The Queen of Attolia

The Queen of Attolia - Megan Whalen Turner

Give me 500 paragraphs again to praise this one, and it still wouldn't be enough. Say I did, or I might bore you--or run out of space, whichever comes first.

Let me sum it up for you: this is one of the most amazing, beautiful, amusing books I've ever read. I never tire of it, or of Gen. No matter how many times I finish it, my impulse is always to turn the book over and restart it immediately.

Normally I don't like a book too deep in politics, but Megan Whalen Turner pulls it off without letting a single page of her narrative drag. Normally the "hey, I'm funny, look at me" characters drive me insane, but I love Gen like nobody else. Normally the stereotyped strong, solitary queens bore me, but Attolia is amazing. Normally I dislike romance, but Gen and Attolia are a sweet, perfect pair and I love them together. They're literally perfect for each other - they're both fiercely independent and proud people and they argue all the time, but they're just.....perfect.
