Ugh. Cheesy, much? But fine, whatever, I guess that's just her taste. My problem is that take and hate do not rhyme.

He sat back down in the chair beside me and gazed at me with baby blue eyes that were framed in such thick lashes it made it hard not to sigh.

 

Um, what? Why would the bristly hairs sticking out the end of his eyelids make you want to sigh? What is that even . . . ?

I'll tell you what makes me want to sigh - this author's writing. And it's not a good sigh, either.

This is gonna be tougher than I thought......

I'm back! Hello, friends new and old!! (I don't mean "old" like you're aging, just that I don't know you yet :D) 

So, bad news: in the past year since I've logged in, my ereader and my computer have crashed individually, so I've lost a lot of my notes and stuff and not done much reading recently. I lost over 30 pages of notes on Hero of Ages, so although I'd love to review it (finally), I'll actually have to reread the darned thing to do it justice. Sigh.

Maybe later :)

Anyway, I missed Booklikes and you guys a lot, but I sure hope they've updated and expanded their manga section or else - that's one of the reasons I haven't been around. I've read mostly manga in the past couple of months and can't wait to update.

My first order of business is actually to finish Existence, though - fun, fun, right? My sister's reading Sweet Evil with me at the same time, so at least we can complain together. So let's do this!

Maybe it's not as bad as I remember.

Gah, can't take any more for today. I'll read more tomorrow :) Hope everyone had an awesome Thanksgiving yesterday and an awesome day today, too!

Worst name ever. Worst name ever. Worst name ever. The poor guy sounds like a Quinrose reject. I mean, I'm not supposed to take him seriously, am I?

Uhhh, what? What does his appearance have to do with needing to sigh? Sigh when you're exasperated or tired, girl. Not because he has a lot of hair growing around his eyeballs.

.......And then when the mom leaves the room, Miranda, who's standing in the doorway, whispers something to her.

I thought Miranda was on her way? But she's already here? Wait, is there a temporal paradox in this hospital? Was Miranda on her way or was she waiting here for the mom to leave? Is Pagan allowed to have visitors or isn't she?

MAKE UP YOUR MIND, BOOK.

"Miranda has already called this morning and I told her you woke up last night. She is on her way, with Wyatt," Mom paused and glanced back at the door, "and Leif Montgomery has been in the waiting room all night. He eve slept in there. I went and let him know you'd woken up and I told him to go on home because you couldn't have visitors, but he stayed."

If Pagan can't have visitors, then why are Miranda and Wyatt on their way to see her?

"Good morning!" The fear I'd seen in her eyes last night was gone...she looked less tense and more like my mom again. Now that I'd awakened and the nurse had assured her I would recover just fine, she seemed less tense and more like my mom again.

The bold is mine, but hahahahaha. Hahaha. Editors, where are you?

"I'm sorry," she said gazing down at me with watery eyes. "It's just, I keep thinking about your car and how it would have completely crushed you if you hadn't been thrown from the driver's seat. I always tell you to wear your seat-belt and the fact that you didn't listen to me saved your life."

Excuse me, but did this book just tell me not to wear my seat-belt because it could save my life? Wow, that's a great message to send out to people...... *sarcasm*

(I know ghost-boy pulled her out of the car and she wasn't actually thrown, but seriously?)

His frown deepened; blue eyes turning icy blue as if a fire had ignited behind them.

Huh? If there was a fire behind them, wouldn't they be fiery blue? Because fire melts ice, you know. You can't have fiery and icy, it needs to be one or the other. Make up your mind, please.

Also - basically she's saying that his eyes didn't chance color at all, but she felt like spouting poetry at me, right? So why even bother?

Kendra reached up and ran her fingers through Leif's hair. It was sickening to watch. He was such a good guy and she was pure evil.

Wait. She's evil because she ran her fingers through her boyfriend's hair in public? But your "best friend" is apparently always kissing her boyfriend in public, and somehow that doesn't make her even more evil? I'm confused, Pagan dear. you aren't making sense.

"You sure coming over last night wasn't a big deal? I would hate to mess things up with you and your girlfriend," she cooed.

 

"You know she isn't my girlfriend, Kendra. Stop calling her that. You'll start talk." His voice sounded annoyed......

"You spend a lot of time at her house and she is always looking at you."

 

"She's my tutor and no, she isn't looking at me. You're just being paranoid when you have no reason to be."

 

I clinched my empty hand into a fist thinking about all the times he had fooled me into thinking he was a nice guy. He was just as mean and calculating as Kendra.

Hold it! Seriously, Pagan? Just because a guy reassures his girlfriend that he isn't having an affair with some other girl (aka you), you instantly go all cold on him and assume that he's a horrible person to the core?

Isn't it perfectly natural for a guy to tell his girlfriend that he's not cheating on her? Especially when he has no choice but to go to his tutor's house every day, you know, to learn important stuff? He has to go there, even if it makes his girlfriend suspicious. Why does it make him a demon because he tried to put her mind at ease?

He can be evil and horrible for doing all kinds of things. This isn't one of them, Pagan. So cut it out before I throw my e-reader across the room.

Why is it that just because Kendra is pretty, Pagan assumes she's shallow and stupid? I mean, isn't that the exact same mistake she made with Leif? Shouldn't she realize by now that she's being a judgemental moron?

(Kendra probably is evil, since she's pretty and female and this is YA PNR. But still.)

"Please stop saying I'm cute. It's kind of insulting."

 

He frowned as he dropped his hand from my chin. "How is that insulting?"

 

I shrugged, not wanting to talk about it and wishing I'd kept my mouth shut. "It just is. No one wants to be cute. Puppies are cute."

Hold on, did she just insult puppies? And what the heck is wrong with being cute? I think glasses are adorable, in a good, precious, d'awwwww kind of way. I have a thing for guys who wear glasses - I admit it. It won't make me like them personally any better, but I think glasses look just darling.

I think my cat is adorable, and I love him to death. I think my sister's cat is adorable, and I love her to death, too. I think everyone in my family is adorable, and I adore them all. I think little, awkward baby animals of any kind are the sweetest things in the world.

Being cute is a good thing. I like cute things. I love cute things. I have no patience for people who think "cute" is an insult, because it isn't.

Now, does that feel like an insult to you?

That should have a question mark on the end of it. And please, please start using italics and stop it with all the capitals. Full-blown capitals should only be used rarely, if ever, and then only when the character is screaming their head off. Not for little things like "Oh!" and "Wow!" and "Please!"

Grrrrr.
